There are many reasons why as a woman you should be exercising. Here are 5

  1. Improve your physique

Body goals, body goals, body goals, there is no sustainable way of achieving them other than through the sweat and pain of exercise. Diet, surgery, and supplements can help, but ultimately, without exercise, it will not last long

2. Reduces risk of depression

Exercise stimulates the brain to release feel good chemicals like endorphins and equally takes your mind off the worries of life. The combination of these two effects makes a huge difference in health and well-being .

Even though exercise may be the last thing on your mind, it will help you.

  1. Maintain healthy bones and joints, especially post-menopause

Many of you are aware of the hot flushes, the mood swings and the vaginal dryness as signs and symptoms of menopause, but are you aware that at menopause your bones also begin to thin and become brittle due to the loss of calcium? Post-menopausal women are at risk of fractures just because of this change. One way of dealing with it is by taking calcium supplements, but an even better approach is to exercise. When you exercise you increase the work that the bones do, the body responds by minimizing the calcium loss or by depositing more calcium into the bones, and viola your risk of fractures is significantly reduced.

  1. Maintain a healthy weight

By all means accept who you are, this point is by no means an attempt at body shaming, but as a doctor, I would be doing myself a disservice if I did not point out the negative impact of excess body fat on the health of a woman. Nearly all female cancers are linked directly or indirectly to obesity. If you have a chance to lose some weight, please do. Exercise is the most impactful means of achieving your ideal weight.

  1. Healthy sex life and orgasm

Physical fitness is a key factor when it comes to enjoying sex. Aerobic exercises are known to improve arousal and vaginal lubrication, improve endurance and reduce stress, all these are factors that enhance your sexual experience as a woman.

The benefits of exercise for you as a woman cannot be overemphasized.
