4 Negative Effects of Masturbation on Women – Statistically more men engage in masturbation than women. 70% of adolescent boys engage in masturbation to 50% of adolescent females. While 60% of men over the age of 60 admit to masturbation, only 30% of women of same age do.

Take a walk into any sex shop, however, and you will immediately notice that there are more female oriented toys than there are male focused toys. Obviously, the market for ‘untapped’ females is far greater than males.

Are there any negative effects of masturbation on the health and wellness of women? Of course. Now lets get into it.

  1. Vaginal Injuries and Infections

This is the most commonly reported issue with masturbation especially when done excessively or aggressively. Injuries may range from bruising to scratches from finger nails or chips on sex toys. More serious injuries like vaginal tears may not be likely but not impossible. Freak accidents like electrocution and burns have also been reported.

Porn websites may also provide inspiration for the use of items not meant to be used as sex toys, which definitely increase the risk of injuries and infections. Women have been know to use bed posts, bananas, cucumbers and other not so clean tools as substitutes or sex toys. You have to realize that organic materials like fruits, have bacteria that live on it, therefore if not properly cleaned could introduce infections  into the vagina. On the other hand, when you clean these surfaces ostensibly to get rid of the germs, the chemicals used will also kill off the normal vaginal flora. So i guess the take home message is, use a properly designed sex toy to avoid unnecessary drama.

  1. Warped Expectations

This is especially likely with women who use sex toys. There are various types of sex toys with very creative functionalities. Some vibrate, swing, pump, and have ridges and grooves to enhance the pleasure it gives to women. These devices do get the job done if used right, such that some women begin to expect their male partners to match up to the consistency  and output just as the dildo or vibrator would. Now that’s impossible, and unfortunately this may inhibit the woman’s enjoyment and could lead to he next negative effect, psychological dependence.

  1. Psychological dependence

Masturbation is a low hanging fruit. All you need is your hand or your toys and you can work yourself to achieve an orgasm. With the advancement in technology and more realistic toys in the industry, the orgasm that a woman could achieve is no longer limited to just clitoral or vaginal, some toys can actually give you both simultaneously, just as a ‘real man’ could.

Over time women who excessively masturbate will struggle to achieve their desired climax when they are with a partner, or will need to masturbate before or after they have been with their partner just to get their climax. Note this is not due  the partners under-performance.

Special note about dildos; women who consistently use oversized dildos during masturbation, may need a similar sized penis to achieve the same level of pleasure that they derive from their dildos. If their male partner does not match up to that size, such women will struggle to achieve orgasm.

  1. Addiction

The pleasurable feeling of orgasm due to the release of endorphins and oxytocin amongst other happy hormones, can cause women to ultimately become addicted to masturbation. Addiction sets up a viscous cycle that will eventually lead to disruption in your daily schedule and affect your productivity.

Addiction is a serious disorder that will require help to overcome. If you realize that you have a strong urge to masturbate when you know you should be doing something else, or if that urge becomes so strong that you cant focus on anything else until you have attended to the urge, you may be addicted. DO reach out and lets help you.
